Branch Manager

Reports To: V.P. of Operations
Classification: Exempt

Role: The primary purpose of the position is to assist the members of our growing community in meeting their financial needs and goals by offering them superior products and services. This is done by providing outstanding service to both internal and external members. Additionally, responsibilities include directing the operations of a medium sized, remote Credit Union facility, ensuring the branch meets organizational financial, operational, service, and growth plans. Has limited lending authority.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: (E) Essential or (N) Nonessential

20% Directs, develops, motivates, hires and disciplines branch personnel; administers E performance evaluations and recommends appropriate personnel actions.

20% Underwrites consumer loans up to the amount assigned per credit union policy; reviews E and approves underwriting decisions of subordinate personnel.

20% Identify the financial needs of the member and suggest a product or service that will meet E their needs.

15% Monitors branch operating results relative to established objectives and insures that E appropriate steps are taken to correct unsatisfactory conditions.

10% Maintains communications with main office; prepares and submits standard reports; E attends scheduled management meetings.

5% Represents the branch as appropriate in its relationships with members, sponsor E organizations(s), suppliers, other financial institutions, and similar groups.

5% Monitors all branch activities to insure they are in compliance with established credit E union policies and procedures.

5% Performs other related duties as assigned. N

Expectations:

  1. To provide outstanding service to internal and external members as defined by our service standards and promises.
  2. To maintain and develop a qualified staff sufficient to meet the needs of members.
  3. To complete performance reviews within the prescribed time frame.
  4. To develop and maintain business partner relationships within the community and area schools.
  5. Acquire additional education relative to branch management or the credit union industry.
  6. Must make one investment referral each month. (Eff. 4/1/06)

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education: A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.

Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
