Frequently Asked Questions

CU@School is BrightStar’s Financial Literacy program. It includes in-school credit union branches, financial literacy presentations, and career day paricipation.

In February 2008, the School Board of Broward County approved BrightStar CU’s establishment of in-school credit union branches that are run either by students or PTA volunteers. Currently, we have 5 in-school credit union branches at Pembroke Lakes Elementary, Nova Dwight Eisenhower Elementary, Walter C Young Middle School, Charles W Flanagan High School, JP Taravella High School, Pines Charter Middle and Elementary (West Campus). Students can make withdrawals and deposits (at the high school level) and deposits only (at the elementary level and middle school level).

The primary purpose of CU@School is financial literacy/education and career development. Students learn hands-on about personal finance and develop employability skills that they can carry with them throughout their life.
