Added Security

Security is a top priority at BrightStar Credit Union, and that’s why we are moving to chip card technology to help protect our cardholders information. Cards with chip technology provide stronger security when used at chip- enabled terminals. The chip protects against fraud by creating a single-use code to validate the transaction, which makes it difficult to copy or counterfeit.

Wider Acceptance

Merchants across the U.S. are beginning to accept chip card transactions and this will continue to grow within the coming years. Chip technology is already used in over 130 countries around the world, including Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom Our cardholders will enjoy greater acceptance when traveling internationally. The chip card will still work at terminals where only magnetic stripe transactions are accepted.

How to use your card.

  • Insert the chip end of your card into the terminal with the chip facing up.
  • Keep your card in the terminal throughout the transaction and follow the prompts on the terminal screen.
  • Remove your card when prompted and take your receipt. You may need to sign for your purchase.
