First Two Weeks of June

Receive Your New Credit Card:You should receive your new credit card during the first two weeks of June 2024. You will need to keep it somewhere safe until it’s time to activate it.

Last Day to Access E-Statements:This is the final day to download your current credit card e-Statements in Online Banking for your recordkeeping.

Credit Card Online Access Temporarily Unavailable:Starting June 21st through June 24th, Online Banking access to your credit card will not be available.

Last Day to Use Your Current Credit Card:After this date, your current credit card will not work.

Activate New Credit Card:Activate your new credit card using the phone number provided on the activation label. You must update your automatic payments, add your new credit card to your mobile wallet, and destroy your old credit card.

Credit Card Online Access Available:You can easily view your new credit card transactions in Online Banking and explore new enhanced functionality.

Set up Online Payments:Set up account information for your new credit card payments in Online Banking. The account verification process may take up to five days. Late fees will be waived for June payments.

Enhancement FAQs

We strive to offer our members and staff the best products and services. BrightStar Credit Union decided to enhance our credit card program, bringing you new and updated features. You can now enjoy benefits such as contactless cards, digital issuance quickly after conversion, and no need for a separate Card app. All alerts and controls will now be accessed through Online Banking.

Once you receive your new card, you should continue using your current card until 6/22/24. On or after 6/23/24, you should activate your new card by calling the number listed on the activation label on the front of the card, or you can call 800-631-3197 directly. Once the card is activated, you will be able to select your PIN. Your new credit card will not work before the 6/23 activation date. 

If you did not receive a new credit card, contact the credit union at 954-486-2728 on 6/24/24. 

Yes, the credit card number, expiration date, and CVV number will be different than your current credit card. Once you activate your new credit card, you can update your automatic and saved payment information.

Yes, your payment due date will change from the 24th to the 26th of each month.

No, all due dates for BSCU credit cards will be the 26th of each month.

Yes, for both recurring and one-time payments, you must update your credit card payment method to pay your credit card balance. Any recurring payments set up to be made on or after 6/22/24 will not be processed and you will need to reschedule it via one of the following options:

Transfer from your BSCU checking or savings account in Online Banking under the “Funds Transfer” option.
Starting on June 21, mail payment to PO Box 71050 Charlotte, NC 28272-1050. Make check payable to BrightStar Credit Union.
Schedule a payment through the BSCU Bill Pay services. You will need to set up new payments using the new credit card information and the new payment address, which is PO Box 71050 Charlotte, NC 28272-1050.

Starting on June 17, make a payment through our online payment portal.
Stop by one of our branch locations.
Late fees will be waived for June payments.

You may have qualified for Skip A Pay for your June payment, be sure to review your credit card statement.

Starting on June 24th, you will be able to set up a new, one-time, or recurring payment; however, setting up a savings or checking account as a payment account will take up to 5 business days.  

Yes, reward points on your Cash Rewards, Educator Rewards, or Business Elite Rewards will roll over to the new credit card and continue accumulating as you make purchases on the new credit card. Going forward, Educator Rewards and Business Elite Rewards cardholders should be on the lookout for a new link in Online Banking to access their rewards.

There is no fee associated with getting your new card.

No, your rates and terms will remain the same.

No, you will need to establish alerts for your new credit card. All features and functionalities of the BrightStar Card App are being moved to Online Banking, the credit card will no longer be supported in the Card App. 

You may continue using your credit card until 6/22/24; after that date, all activity will be discontinued on the old credit card, and you will need to begin using your new credit card on or after 6/23/24. Once you have successfully activated your new credit card on 6/23/24, you need to destroy your old credit card.

You can see up to three months of transaction history for your previous credit card through Online Banking. Download or archive past statements from your previous credit card because those will no longer be available. The Credit Union will be able to access past statements by request. Any charge generally associated with this request will be waived.

Yes, you may need to update your payment information with online merchants. While most large merchants will automatically update the new card number through services like Visa Account Updater, smaller merchants may require a manual update to the new card number and expiration date. Therefore, it’s important for you to check and update your payment information, especially for recurring or saved payment accounts with companies like Netflix, Amazon, Apple, etc.

No, starting June 21, 2024, you will no longer have access to your old credit account through Online Banking. If you are enrolled in electronic statements, you must download any past statements you need before this date. The credit union will be able to access past statements by request. Any charge normally associated with this request will be waived. Additionally, you will need to re-enroll in e-Statements on or after June 28, 2024.
