How do I request a Skip-A-Pay?

Log in to Online Banking, navigate to Transfers & Payments, then choose Skip-A-Pay. You can also visit any BrightStar branch to submit a request in person.

Am I eligible for Skip-A-Pay?

You must have a BrightStar auto loan in good standing, have made at least six consecutive monthly payments in a rolling 12-month period, and have a loan balance of $5,000 or more.

How much does it cost?

There's a $40 processing fee per skip request. School employees pay no fee — the processing fee is 100% waived for educators.

How many times can I skip?

You can skip up to two payments per rolling 12-month period, with a lifetime maximum of six skips per loan.

Does interest still accrue during the skipped month?

Yes. Interest continues to accrue during the skip month, and your loan term is extended by one month. Your total loan cost may increase as a result.

What loans qualify for Skip-A-Pay?

Skip-A-Pay is available only for BrightStar Auto Loans. Credit Cards, Mortgages, Commercial Loans, and Home Equity Loans are not eligible.

What if I have automatic payments set up?

Automatic payments (ACH or payroll deductions) must be paused manually for the skip month. You're responsible for stopping the automatic payment.

How do I qualify for the educator fee waiver?

You must be a current school employee. School employee status may be verified during the request process.
